SYSTEM INFORMATION

What is the CANS Online Bidding System?

The Online Bidding System is a tool used for Trade Contractors to submit bids to General Contractors and General Contractors to submit to Owners electronically through the CANSnet system.  The goal of this system is to streamline the bidding process while improving access, efficiency and transparency.

How do I access projects available on the system? (CANS Member)

As a CANS Member you would sign into CANSnet (www.cans.ns.ca) using your user name and password. Projects available through online bidding will be listed in the Bulletin section and will be in blue to differentiate from the other projects.

How do I access projects available on the system? (Non-Member)

For those who do not hold CANS membership, you will visit CANSnet (www.cans.ns.ca) and click on the Projects drop down, then choose Public Projects. This will show you the list of projects available for online bidding.

How is my information verified?

Each user will need to complete an authorization process to verify they are who they say. This process will include users being emailed a code, and called on a phone number of their choice with a code. Both of these codes will need to be entered into the system. You have the option to authorize for one month or for one year. There is a fee to complete this process – you may authorize for two months for $40 or one year for $150.

Where does my contact information populate from?

Non-member information populates from the form filled out when originally accessing the project details.

Member information pulls directly from your CANSnet profile, which is available when you choose My CANSnet and then My Profile. You can adjust information in My Profile and it is important to ensure your CANSnet profile is up to date if you are planning to bid through the online system.

What are the minimum system requirements to use the system?

To access the system you will need a computer/tablet/smart phone with a decent internet connection.

What information is displayed for CANS Members that is not for Non-Members?

CANS Members to have access to all project documents, specs, drawings and plan takers lists associated with the project.
