November 26, 2020:
  • Active Cases of COVID-19: As of November 26, Nova Scotia has 114 active cases of COVID-19. Fourteen new cases are being reported today. Twelve of the new cases are in Central Zone. One case is in Northern Zone and the other case is in Western Zone. Read more.
  • Asymptomatic Testing for Bar Staff and Patrons: If you have employees between the ages of 18-35, please inform them of this information: Anyone who went to a bar or restaurant in Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) after 10 p.m. in the last two weeks should book a COVID-19 test, even if they don’t have symptoms.   • New Restrictions to Help Reduce Spread of COVID-19: On Nov. 20, Premier Stephen MacNeil and Dr. Strang announced new restrictions on gathering limits and social circles in urban and many suburban areas of HRM and Hants County. A list of communities affected by the new restrictions is available at https://novascotia.ca/coronavirus These gathering limits take effect Nov. 23 to Dec. 21.
November 18, 2020:
  • Active Cases of COVID-19: As of today, Nov. 17, Nova Scotia has 24 active cases of COVID-19. Five new cases were identified Monday, Nov. 15. As cases in Nova Scotia increase, Dr. Strang highlighted that “it remains important for Nova Scotians to strictly adhere to the public health order and directives – practise good hand washing and other hygiene steps, maintain a physical distance when and where required. Wearing a non-medical mask is mandatory in most indoor public places.” Read the latest update from the Province here.
  • Federal Governments Expands CEBA, Updates its Requirements and Deadlines: The CEBA requirements and deadlines have changed. This is the program that provides businesses $40,000 of which $10,000 is forgivable. Soon to be increased by another $20,000 of which $10,000 is forgivable for a total of $60,000 and $20,000 is forgivable.
    • As of October 26, 2020: eligible Canadian businesses that currently operate through a personal bank account will be able to apply for CEBA.
    • All applicants now have until December 31, 2020 to apply for CEBA.
    • *COMING SOON* CEBA support is being expanded from $40K to $60K. This expansion will be available to all eligible previous and new CEBA applicants.
  • Canada Emergency Wage Benefit (CEWS) Pending Expansion: A proposal has been made to continue the CEWS until June 2021, pending the passage of legislation. The wage subsidy would remain at the current subsidy rate of up to a maximum of 65% of eligible wages until December 19, 2020, and would be extended until June 2021. Under CEWS, the federal government covers a portion of an employee’s wages for eligible employers. The wage subsidy supports you to keep and re-hire your employees and avoid layoffs. Applications for claim period 8 (September 27, 2020, to October 24, 2020) are now open. Apply for CEWS.

  • Active Cases of COVID-19: As of today, Nov. 12, Nova Scotia has 19 active cases of COVID-19. No new cases were identified Wednesday, Nov. 11. Read more.
November 5, 2020:
  • Active Cases of COVID-19: As of Nov. 5, Nova Scotia has 18 active cases of COVID-19. One new cases was identified on Nov. 4. Read more.
  • COVID-19 Support for Municipalities: As part of the Safe Restart Agreement, municipalities in the province will receive $67.5 million to help meet operating costs while impacted by lower revenue from transit and fees, as well as increased costs associated with COVID-19 infection prevention measures.
