Construction Association of Nova Scotia excited to see members awarded Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medals

HALIFAX, March 4, 2013 ‐‐The Construction Association of Nova Scotia (CANS) was excited to see three members awarded Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medals for their contributions to their industry, community and province.

“It is always great to see the work of individuals in our industry recognized for outstanding achievements, especially on the national stage,” says CANS President Duncan Williams. “On behalf of CANS and our membership, we’d like to extend huge congratulations to Adrian Morrison, Black & MacDonald Limited; David Oulton, Marid industries Limited; and Jack Flemming, Ocean Contractors Limited on this achievement.”

CANS and the Nova Scotia Road Builders Association held a special reception and medal presentation on February 28th at 4:00pm at the Best Western Hotel in Dartmouth. Friends, family and colleagues had the opportunity to personally congratulate the three recipients. Cory Bell, the Chair of CANS, notes, “There are so many of our members who give of their time and resources. While they don’t look for it, recognition is always appreciated.”

The Diamond Jubilee celebration marks the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne. Only one other time in history—Queen Victoria in 1897—has this historic milestone been celebrated in Canada.

As part of the ongoing celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee year in Canada, the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) accepted and distributed 38 Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medals to outstanding individuals across Canada.

“The achievements of those being recognized have helped to build the Canada of today and the Canada of the future,” says The Canadian Construction Association. “[We are] very proud to recognize those outstanding accomplishments and individuals, and honoured to be a part of this monumental recognition in Canadian history.”
