Thank you for voting in the 2025 federal election

Thank you to everyone who voted in the 2025 federal election. Your participation made a difference. In Nova Scotia, 577,740 of 799,595 registered electors cast ballots—a turnout of 72.25%. Nationally, voter turnout reached 68.5%, the highest since 1993, with over 7.3 million Canadians voting early, setting a record for advance polls.

The election resulted in a Liberal minority government under Prime Minister Mark Carney, who secured 169 of 343 seats, just short of a majority.

CANS will continue to advocate on your behalf to ensure the federal government delivers smart, coordinated support for our industry. To that end, we urge the government to prioritize better planning between federal and provincial departments—especially in the development and enforcement of construction standards. Aligning efforts will reduce inefficiencies, enhance safety and quality, and improve investor confidence in Nova Scotia’s built environment. We also encourage the introduction of targeted tax incentives for the construction industry to drive modernization, productivity, and competitiveness.

Looking ahead, CANS is calling on the federal government to focus on three urgent, interrelated priorities: infrastructure renewal and expansion, workforce development, and housing affordability. These are critical to the long-term economic health of our province.

We will continue pushing for federal investment in public infrastructure, stronger collaboration on workforce solutions, and a coordinated approach to reducing the hidden costs of housing development.

While the election is over, now is not the time to ease off. Reach out to your Members of Parliament and hold them accountable to their commitments. Engaging with your MPs ensures that your voice continues to be heard in shaping Canada’s future.
