Thank you for attending CANS 2026 Women in Construction Happy Hour, presented by PCL Construction!
On March 5 at Nine Locks Brewing in Dartmouth, more than 160 industry professionals gathered for the first CANS Women in Construction Happy Hour.
Building on successes of CANS WIC Forum, this event continues to foster meaningful connections and celebrate the leadership and unique perspectives of women in construction.
Erica Jordan of PCL Construction opened the afternoon with a compelling reflection on the importance of recognizing women’s contributions to the industry. She highlighted the legacies of two trailblazing figures — Elsie Eaves, the first woman admitted as a full member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and Elsie MacGill, the first woman in Canada to earn an electrical engineering degree. Their stories underscored how today’s leaders continue to shape a more inclusive and equitable industry.
Jordan spoke to the power of mentorship, sponsorship, and allyship in creating opportunities for women, sharing her own experiences as both a mentee and mentor.
She reflected on how those who came before her helped open doors, and how this generation of women will continue breaking down barriers to entry and advancement.
The afternoon wrapped up with a door prize draw, including a gift card to Sweet Cheesus — provider of the event’s charcuterie spread — and two entry tickets to CANS 2026 Home Depot Pro De‑Icer.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for a memorable afternoon of networking and celebration. We look forward to welcoming you back at this year’s CANS Women in Construction Forum!
