Construction Immigration Support

As a member of the Nova Scotia Construction Immigration Coalition, the Construction Association of Nova Scotia (CANS) works closely with industry and government partners to help construction employers address workforce needs and access qualified talent.

In partnership with the Nova Scotia Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration, we support employers through local recruitment initiatives and international recruitment missions that connect businesses with skilled, immigration-ready workers.

International Recruitment Opportunities

CANS is currently collaborating with the province on an upcoming recruitment mission focused on attracting qualified construction professionals from the United Kingdom and Ireland.

These missions provide employers with the opportunity to connect directly with candidates who possess the skills, experience, and qualifications needed to support Nova Scotia’s growing construction industry.

How We Can Support Your Hiring Needs

To ensure recruitment efforts align with industry demand, it is important for the province and industry partners to understand employers’ current and projected workforce requirements.

We encourage you to complete the Employer Vacancy Survey, if your organization has vacancies in:

  • Skilled trades
  • Site supervision
  • Project management
  • Construction management
  • Estimating and technical roles
  • Administrative and support positions
  • Other construction-related occupations

The information collected helps us identify workforce gaps, inform recruitment strategies, and strengthen our efforts to attract the talent your business needs.

Recruitment Support Through VidCruiter

Through our VidCruiter Recruitment Tool, CANS can help employers connect with qualified candidates from both local and international talent pools.

Using information provided through the Employer Vacancy Survey, we can:

  • Connect employers with qualified job seekers in Nova Scotia and across Canada.
  • Identify international candidates with relevant construction industry experience and skills.
  • Share candidate resumes that align with your hiring requirements.
  • Support employers in building a pipeline of skilled workers for current and future workforce needs.

This service is provided at no cost to construction employers.

Immigration Program Support

For employers interested in hiring international workers, CANS can provide guidance and support related to available immigration pathways, including:

  • Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)
  • Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP)
  • Francophone Mobility Program

Our team can help employers better understand program requirements, connect with appropriate resources, and navigate the recruitment process.
