CANSnet ID:  NS21-0054

About the Project:

The new Gallery and Arts District, located on the Salter Block of the Halifax Waterfront, will be a transformative arts destination for all to experience. It will inspire and celebrate creativity and imagination, but also challenge the status quo and reshape institutional values. It will be a place created with people, art, and culture at its core.

The integrated team has co-created a design inspired by the rich culture and Indigenous ways of thinking of the Mi’kmaq people, radically shifting the paradigm of a major provincial art institution to be open, accessible, welcoming, relevant, and unique in every way. This will be a transformative place on the Halifax waterfront that catalyzes new ways of thinking and being, new networks and relationships, all set within a regenerative landscape that builds the site from the ground up.
