‘Housing Starts, May 2025’ and ‘Building Permits, April 2025’
Insights from this data indicate that ICI construction has seen consistent growth year to date, with the development largely concentrated in Halifax.
Highlights include:
- ICI construction saw a +16.8% increase in investment year to date.
- Halifax led the region in growth, with a +25.8% increase in investment year to date; while outside of Halifax declined -9.9% in the same period.
- Provincial housing starts are up 0.4% year to date, but May showed signs of cooling after April’s near-record highs.
