Thank you for attending CANS 2025 Stanhope Simpson Insurance Women in Construction Forum

On October 28 at Pier 21 in Halifax, more than 300 industry professionals gathered for the second annual CANS 2025 Stanhope Simpson Insurance Women in Construction Forum. Building on last year’s success, this event continued to foster meaningful connections and celebrate the leadership and unique perspectives of women in construction.

The day began with a warm welcome and refreshing mocktails, setting the tone for vibrant networking. Opening remarks were delivered by our accomplished emcee and presenting sponsor, Victoria Stanhope, President & CEO of Stanhope Simpson Insurance Ltd.

Gerard Murphy, Founder and CEO of Barefoot Facilitation Inc., returned to lead two interactive networking sessions that encouraged attendees to break the ice and build authentic connections. Selfies were part of the fun again—check out our LinkedIn and #CANSWICForum for some great snapshots!

Our keynote speaker, Dr. Jody Carrington, captivated the audience with a powerful and interactive presentation on leading with authenticity and heart. Her message underscored the importance of connection, courage, and community in leadership.

After a plated lunch, attendees enjoyed a second round of networking before diving into an insightful panel discussion moderated by Anathea Fenton, Founder and President of Falkbuilt Halifax. Panelists shared personal stories, career challenges, and advice for the next generation of leaders. A heartfelt thank you to our inspiring 2025 panelists:
