EVENT INFORMATION

Held every autumn in a different location throughout the Maritimes, CANS Annual General Meeting is a weekend-long event that hosts up to 200 guests, including owners, managers, employees and clients. The weekend includes a golf tournament, an activity highlighting the local community, nightly entertainment, keynote speakers, awards presentations, and the AGM business meeting.

Theme: Hawaiian Luau! Break out your Hawaiian shirt and dust off your grass skirt. It’s time for a Mai Tai and tiki torches. We’ll feast on tropical food, and don’t forget to wear your lei. We’re going to celebrate the tropical way!

What to Wear: if you are interested in participating in themed attire, bring out your most colourful Hawaiian shirt, leis and grass skirts on Saturday Night!  There will be awards for Best Dressed Female, Best Dressed Male and Best Dressed Couple on Saturday Night.

In this presentation, Don will examine the structural issues leading to current weak economic conditions and will outline the changes needed to improve Nova Scotia’s economic future.

 

LOCAL ACTIVITY

Walk, Shop & Explore Mahone Bay – a tranquil destination with spectacular views of the scenic harbour, vibrantly painted Victorian homes, specialty shops, colourful heritage gardens and the world-famous three churches, which sit at the water’s edge and form the iconic backdrop for one of Canada’s most picturesque towns.

Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the waterfront and discover the same hard-working, hands-on spirit of founders in the variety of unique products available in the shops and galleries; hooked rugs, pewter, quilts, and pottery. The vibrant artistic community creates both contemporary and traditional pieces in diverse mediums — from ceramics, sculpture and painting, to jewellery and textiles, and much more.

While in Mahone Bay, the group will savour a local gourmet lunch catered by Circa 1860, while enjoying a tasting & tour of Saltbox Brewing Company – Mahone Bay’s first microbrewery.

CHILDREN’S PROGRAM

  • There will be plenty of games and puzzles alongside for those children who prefer alternative activities while other children participate in the crafts.
  • All activities include meals, supervision and direction
  • All children 3 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult. The recommended maximum age is 13; however, all youth are welcomed to register!

Babysitting Services at Oak Island

Babysitting can be arranged in advance with Oak Island Resort for delegates of the CANS AGM. This service is provided based on the availability of Oak Island employees in their free time and thus cannot be guaranteed until an employee has confirmed. Please complete this babysitting request form and send to sarah@parkhillevents.com and we will respond within 48 hours of your requested date required. Cost for a sitter is $15 per hour. There is a maximum of 4 children per sitter.

Friday Casino Night: Don’t miss this year’s Casino Night! Friday, October 4, following dinner. This will be a casual attire event. Try your luck at Black Jack, Plinko, Roulette, Poker, Craps Table, and more! There will be some great prizes up for grabs this year! Saturday, October 5, 2019: Reception, Hawaiian Buffet Dinner and Dance with Big Fish.

Saturday Night Entertainment: Join us for a Hawaiian Buffet Dinner on Saturday Night, followed by entertainment from Big Fish! If you’re hungry for great musical entertainment then Big Fish is the catch of the day. This lively acoustic 5 piece, noted for their strong harmonies and expansive setlist of all your favourites, has been performing their unique show for over 18 years throughout the Maritimes. Audiences of all ages have been fascinated by the creativity, powerful voices and showmanship of this talented group of performers. This group loves to dance and have fun and it shows!

This will be a themed attire event so if you wish to participate, bring out your most colourful Hawaiian shirt, leis and grass skirts on Saturday Night! There will be a fun Photo Booth on-site, as well as awards for Best Dressed Female, Best Dressed Male and Best Dressed Couple on Saturday Night.
