COVID-19 Update for CANS Members

(The following was sent to CANS members via email on December 3, 2020).

Good Afternoon, CANS Members:

It is more important than ever to remain committed to the best practices that your organizations have put in place over the last few months to keep your colleagues and families safe from COVID-19.

The Department of Labour and Advanced Education made mention on a recent call that the construction industry has done an excellent job of keeping the industry safe and we applaud you, our members, for helping to slow the spread of this global pandemic, and we encourage you to keep up the great work.

Last week we sent you an email about what you can do to protect yourself, families and colleagues. If you didn’t have a chance to read it, you can do so here.

Further to that email, the following best practises will be essential in slowing this second wave:

  • Continue practising good hygiene, respecting physical distancing requirements, wearing masks and following directives from Public Health.
  • When possible, keep your work crews together on job sites and “bubble” together. While this is not a regulation, it is still something that will help flatten the curve.
  • It is recommended to keep your meetings to five people or less, wherever possible.
  • Bringing in specialized workers from outside of Nova Scotia is still possible however it is asked that you only do so when absolutely necessary. If you must bring in workers from outside the province, please follow Public Health’s directives on specialized workers.

At CANS, we’re committed to protecting our members and keeping the industry strong. To ensure the health and safety of CANS staff, our members and visitors coming into our office, we have guidelines in place for you to follow when accessing CANS in-person Projects & Documents services. You can review these measures by visiting our COVID-19 Information Centre.

If you have any questions, I encourage you to get in touch with us by emailing questions@cans.ns.ca

Sincerely,

Melody Hillman
