Mike and Jason’s Gold Seal Success Story
As we turn the page to 2021, we can look back on the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic brought to the construction industry in 2020. We had to modify the way we do day-to-day business, incorporate new procedures and protocols to ensure the safety of our workers and the public, and put measures in place to ensure the industry is primed for growth and success post-COVID.
Professional development was not immune to the challenges the industry experienced in 2020, with courses and seminars moving from in-person to online, meetings held virtually and in the case of Gold Seal Certification, the final examinations moving to a completely online format for the first time.
Mike MacLean and Jason White decided to challenge for Gold Seal Certification in Project Management with the support of their employer, Atlantica Contractors. With educational and experience credits accounted for, they sought the guidance of the Construction Association of Nova Scotia (CANS) to help chart a path toward challenging the exam.
Chantal Arsenault, Manager of Education & Training Development, was instrumental in providing a plan and options for the outstanding components of the application. Chantal provided information on CANS courses and identified other sources of credits.
The examination was no doubt a difficult undertaking for the Canadian Construction Association (CCA), but kudos to them for having an informative pre-exam webinar and being available for any questions or concerns. The exam itself performed flawlessly from a technical perspective.
Mike and Jason were successful in their pursuit of Gold Seal Certification in Project Management, and that was thanks to the support of Atlantica, CANS, CCA and the TCA.
