Join the review process

The Construction Association of Nova Scotia (CANS) and the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) are encouraging all members to voice their opinions in the review process of national codes, National Building Code (NBC), National Fire Code (NFC), and National Plumbing Code (NPC) of Canada that is currently underway.

A public review is underway throughout fall 2019.

This review focuses on changes proposed to the 2015 editions of the aforementioned national codes. A final public review will also be taking place in January 2020, which will also include changes being proposed to the National Energy Code for Buildings. All accepted changes will be published and reflected in the new 2020 versions of the national codes.

We encourage all interested members and firms to submit their comments on the proposed changes by visiting the National Research Council (NRC) Canada’s page provided in the link above.

The NRC now offers free access to national model codes in electronic format, as well as the provincial codes published by the NRC through its online store. Please note that the PDFs are single-transferrable and lock to individual computers, and are not transferrable to a shared space in your respective offices, so multiple downloads may be required.

The Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes (CCBFC) is welcoming feedback from users and stakeholders from October 22 to December 23, 2019.
