Meet Your CANS Team!

It’s been a while since many of you have seen CANS staff in-person. With the way of the world continuing remotely, we thought it would be a great time to (re)introduce CANS team to our members on the digital front! This week, get to know…

Get to Know Vanessa

Q&A

What do you like about working at CANS?

I love the incredible team I get to work with on a daily basis, how creative and adaptive we can be, and the high level of drive and compassion our management team displays.

What is your favourite part of your workday?

My favourite part of the workday is when I get to connect with members or even potential members and help them solve a problem!

What sets CANS apart from your past jobs?

CANS stands apart by having a well-defined set of goals. There’s a sense of accomplishment, purpose and knowing that the service you are providing is valuable to others.

Some of Vanessa’s hobbies:

  • Spending time with family & friends,
  • Exercising,
  • Cooking,
  • Volunteering, (Vanessa is a director on the board for the Dartmouth Senior Service Center!)

You might have met Vanessa in-person at:

Being the membership lead I am at every event and plan several of them myself!

I was also involved with CANS strategic planning sessions that took place across Nova Scotia and in Moncton, and I also oversee the CANS Advantage program.

There is an extremely high chance that if you joined CANS within the last 5 years then you have dealt directly with me for registration and your onboarding session. I am also the staff lead for the Membership Committee and the Developing Executives group, along with Michelle Peters.

Did you Know?

Vanessa loves to cook. If she won the lottery, she would take a culinary course for fun!
